Love the clouds |
The
wind is strong, the temp 43 degree’s, wind chill much colder, the cold air
creeps through some trim making the kitchen colder than the rest of the
dwelling……but the coffee is hot! Michael prepared oatmeal with fresh
strawberries.
Flags flying over Seguin |
Michael hung the flag’s this morning, so this is the first time for me to see the Seguin Lighthouse flag flown with the American flag.
Repairs
were made to the water line going down to the cove; the winters here are rough
on the pipes. It was a simple repair of loosening the clamp and making it
tighter.
Shelves
for the kitchen and the gift shop. I
used a piece of cardboard to make a pattern; I will have to cut a different one
for each spot since I’m making the shelf to go around brick that over 200 yrs
old. They will be going into the space between the bricks that used to be where
the chimney to the cook stove. It is now an empty space…but not for long, if
the first shelf looks good, then more will follow.
The
house smells divine; Michael is preparing a soup for lunch from our leftovers
vegetable.
Cyndy, Michael, Larry and I took a complete tour of each
building to document the condition of each.
Cyndy wrote while I took photos.
She will give this info to the OIC, On Island Committee, and they will
be volunteering their times and talents to keep this place going.

Doors to tower needing some TLC |
Bandit doing very well on tram |
Bandit, our little Chihuahua, went with us as we surveyed the
island for what needed to be repaired. I
wasn’t sure he would go down the tram, he was a little cautious to begin with,
but he’s a pro now!
Michael made dinner of pulled pork and mashed potatoes. Cyndy sautéed brussel spouts, pecans and walnuts,
mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. I was
excited to try brussel sprouts for the first time, I was very pleasantly
surprised, they were good! Leftover
cherry dump cake was a finish to our meal.
Cyndy and Michael took advantage of some sun and found a spot outside to read while I worked on my little vegetable garden, turning the top
soil. It is dark and rich, ready to grow us some extra food. Cyndy suggested I wait for another two weeks
before I begin planting.
One of my little gardens, Chives were here and waiting for us to use! |
We are learning so much from our new friends about the
island, hate see them leave, but so excited for what is to come these next few
months.
Our family back home are having our Family Reunion. This is the first one we have missed in over
35 years. We are missing the
grandbabies, but knowing we will see them soon when they visit in July is
making it bearable.
Sunset watching time….we could see Mount Washington to the
west, which is 26 miles away!
Sunset with Mount Washington in the distance....26 miles away |
Michael and Cyndy gave us a gift, a book: The Lighthouse Keeper's Wife, by Connie Scovill Small. Such a sweet gift, can't wait to read it!
A
beautiful ending to a beautiful day.
