67 degrees w/ 0 mph winds
Day 102
Flag is just hanging, like it’s sad.
FOGGY….or how we sometimes say it in
Texas…Froggy…again, we add an “r”, where Mainers leave them out. Makes me laugh!
Bandit waiting for our visitors |
The fog is so thick I can hardly see the Old Bell from the front porch. Naturally the fog signal has been going off
all night…I hope those on the water can hear it, it’s not loud at all. The USCG needs to fix it!
By 11:00 it was better, but could only see
alittle past the tram, Cobble Stone Beach looks mystic in the fog. Sea gulls are staying quiet this morning.
Breakfast…leftovers…I had the breakfast burrito
and Larry had the blueberry pancake.
Ethan had a boat load today. Had a group from Seguin, Texas…pronounced
“Sugeen”. One of the couples were
celebrating their 40th anniversary and this was on her bucket list
to come to Seguin Island, Maine.
There
was another couple and their granddaughter was named Seguin…
their son had come
to Seguin Island many years ago and fell in love with the name. She’s just a little thing right now…when they
left, I went and collected some sea glass from the shore and gave them to give
her.

His granddaughters name is Seguin...love it! |
The fog was still pretty thick when everyone
came up, but it slowly, real slowly….but it did dissipate some so people got to
see off the island…it was pretty when they realized they could see…all the
“WOW’s”, etc…
I did notice as I spoke to the fellow Texans
that I spoke a little heavier….not sure how to explain it, but I heard myself
taking differently than I have the last couple of months.
Cyndy came on the boat this morning to bring me
supplies and the guest laundry…I’ve asked her to come stay a few days with
us! Larry isn’t feeling well.We helped
get all the folks back onto Ethan’s dingy and when they left we went and….I was
going to say swam…but we just floated a little while…it was cold and felt
fabulous. On the way back up the trail,
I showed her the project that I had brought with us from Texas. She loved it! What I did was have seven sheet of
facts/info/etc… I had ordered some
waterproof covers…my thought was to put them along the path so that as folks
came up they could gain information about the island at the same time, take a
picture, etc… We put them on the tram so
they can be seen as people head up. I
told her I made three copies of the info…so we decided to put one set on the
back side of the kios and the other set in the restroom down at the
cove…nothing like having their undivided attention to give them important
information.
I started a pot of chicken noodle soup before
the visitors arrived and we were now going to have lunch. I took the lid off and the noodles had
swollen…the pot was almost overflowing…guess we will be having chicken noodle
soup for a few days. Larry ate a
bite…only a bite and back up to bed.
Cyndy did the dishes and I put the rest of the items away.
The talked and caught up on life here on Seguin,
I went to work on my sales today and Cyndy went out to weedeat the South Trail…the
weedeatter wouldn’t start…so she headed to the Whistle House to work on
something. About 5:15 eight people
arrived…told the guy in front that I “loved” his t-shirt…it was a Seguin Island
t-shirt….he said he had several….they had been trying to make it all day, but
the fog wasn’t helping. We gave them
tours and they went on to enjoy the island…a couple of ladies went out on the
South Trail.
While they were here, the fog was coming at
us…thick and fast…it was dark. I took
photos of it as it approached the island….makes me think of the film/movie…The
Fog…Cyndy hasn’t seen it…not sure she should.
They thought the fog would lift, but it hadn’t so they were going to go
on down and head home…but first they came in and made several purchases! Thanks!

My Mother and siblings…Penny, Kevin and Kris are
headed this way Thursday! My siblings
have only been here for about 30 minutes back in 2008..that’s when I found out
about the “Friends of Seguin” and about being a “Keeper”. It will be neat to hear momma tell them about
this place, to all sleep in the same place, have Lobster for dinner, etc…
