61 degrees w/ 2 knots

I tried for over an hour last night to get my blog posted.  Computer kept freezing up even after shutting it down a couple of times.  Finally got it done this morning, but not sure I proof read it before sending…oops! It has to do with the attachments that I want all of you to see.

Slept in a little this morning…8:30!  Larry was already up working on his computer stuff.  He works with the Big 12 Equestrian Judges.  Most everything he does is via the computer.  He was even having trouble this morning with this computer. 

As I sit here trying to enter a few thoughts, I went back in my head about 50 years and wondered what dad would have thought about having a computer, cell phones, digital electronic weather machines, digital cameras, and such out here on this island.  Mom said she usually got to call back to Texas once a month, maybe.  The pictures we have of our life on both Pond and Seguin Island are about 15 for almost a two year timeframe.  They were expensive to buy the film, the flashbulbs and then to get them developed…only to find out that half of them didn’t come out or were fuzzy, etc…. And here I am upset that my computer wouldn’t download photos as quickly as I would have liked so I could post a blog that goes out all over the world in a matter of seconds!!!!

Guess what we had for breakfast…no blueberries in the pancakes this morning.  Just didn’t take the time to put them in….had to get in here and mess with the computer!

Larry’s on the move this morning….already “turned” the toilets and headed down to the cove to work.  I need to do some more touch up to the signs below, but I have got to get some little paintbrushes…the q-tip I tried yesterday did ok, but not up to what I wanted.  I’m thinking of making another sign for the gift shop up here, right outside the door!  What color, what size, where to hang it, etc…something that will catch the eye of our visitors as they come up the hill.  That’s my project for the today, with the weather forecast for tomorrow, that’s when I will stay in and clean the house.

A family of three generations, who have been coming every summer for the past 12 years came today.  Larry was able to share little bits of info and history that they hadn’t heard before….like the bell, they knew it was new, but didn’t have the history.  They took lots of family photos on the rock outside my back door.  I took one of the entire bunch for them with their camera.  They enjoyed a picnic lunch on our picnic table and continued to talk with Larry about Texas and the weather and what he used to do and more.  They are from Connecticut and Delaware and vacation here during the summers.

Several more families came, some having never been here while other make a trip annually.  One gentleman talked of a photo with a P-3 Airplane flying over Seguin…I took him straight to the photo and he told us about the maneuvers that they would do between Seguin and Fort Popham.  The plane was his squadron.

Several furry friends came and visited today.  They all seem to enjoy the island as much as their people.  Rolling in the grass, running and jumping.  I keep a bowl of water up here for them which they seem to really enjoy.

You remember the red paint I’m wearing from the other day, well now I’m wearing a greenish gray.  Its water based, so it will be gone tonight! I repainted a table in our vestibule and touched up a bench…they were both already this color, they just needed a little TLC.

Larry finished mowing and I finished my painting.  Don’t think anyone will be coming up now since it’s getting late and the “gale” winds are coming tomorrow.  I was told “gale” meant strong, like 40 mph winds.  We will do a few things around here that the winds might affect. 

We are already tired, not sure if we will see the sunset. But here is what we saw later last night.

57 degrees w/ 6 knots

The day started a little hazy.  The seas are so smooth, can’t see any waves, it looks like glass.  There are more boats out on the water than I’ve ever seen at one time.

In the very middle is the State Bird of Maine...Chickadee, they are small!

Last night I removed as much of the red paint off my skin as I could….dressing this morning I found a few spots I missed.

Breakfast of Coffee and Blueberry pancakes….becoming a regular diet for us…loving the Maine blueberries! 

Friends from Texas just text me and said they want to come visit Seguin next week.  They are originally from Maine and were excited when I told them we were headed here this summer.

Worked a little more on the Kiosk this morning, then I heard some voices down in the cove….a couple of kayakers who came from Popham beach.  They lived about 90 miles up the coast and had just come down for a visit.  This was their first time to Seguin.

Then Ethan arrived with a full boat of people.  I got to go down to the waters edge and help get them to shore. Some stayed on the boat, Ethan was taking the around the island to do some fishing.  Arriving on shore were a couple and then a group of wonderful young boy scouts from Boston, Mass.  Bandit also helped welcome the group.

The Boy Scouts had lots of good questions and Larry was able to answer them.  They enjoyed the tours and went on to enjoy the south trail before meeting the boat back to shore.

My phone…which is my brain and communication with the world “died”.  So I went to use Larry’s phone to call the Seguin office and guess who hadn’t put the numbers in his phone.  This will be ok!  The office had called to tell me about some guest coming next week, that’s when we got cut short by my phone.  Thank God, my daughter was able to help me do CPR on it via facebook!  It’s alive and kickin!

With the visitors finished and headed down was the time to have a quick lunch of left over spaghetti.  The sun is shining bright and the temp went up to 70, but the breeze from the ocean is a little nippy.  We are planning on yard work till Ethan calls us back on the radio….he’s bringing a contractor out and needs Larry to come out with the dingy to get them.

I write my post at different times of the day.  Sometimes I start it right after breakfast, then I add a little info throughout the day or I don’t start writing till about 8pm, so with that said, I might write in future or past text depending on when I get a moment to write.  Hopefully you are being bored with silly things like what we had for breakfast, etc…

You can also tell I am not grammatically correct.  I write like I talk….so when there are “dot dot dots” that is just where I took a moment to make an expression or get your attention, etc…  If my Texan slang comes out…I don’t try to go in an fix it, like if I say fixin too. 

Sold my first Christmas Seguin Ornaments today.  The couple couldn’t decide which one to get, the smooth edge one or the scalloped edge one…so they bought both!

Ethan came back out about 4:30 with someone who’s going to give a bid to the F.O.S.I.L. group about doing work on the old “Oil House”.  I love that little building, it would make the perfect little beach cottage.  More yard work and plans to prepare our fish that we picked up on Wed.  Thinking about putting lemon and dill on it and putting it in parchment paper to bake…this would be a first for me.

Dinner….fixed the fish by baking it in butter and lemon juice with some dill and breadcrumbs on top.  To go with it I fixed asparagus and rice.  I did good!

After dinner we were able to catch a few sunset photos, but the temp had dropped down to 57 and we didn’t spend much time doing that. Sunsets are always a fabulous way to end the day.  We stand out and can almost get a 360 view of our surroundings, the beautiful old historic buildings and the tower and The Light…wow!
