Heat wave….72 degrees w/ 2 mph winds
Day 94

It only rained a little last night, could hear the fog signal though.  This morning the sun is bright but there is a foggy mist on the ocean and no boats.  I know the lobstermen don’t do their thing on Sundays, but since I don’t see anyone out I’m wondering if the weather is going to be bad?  Maybe everyone just slept in.

Breakfast….Blueberry pancakes!
We are going to start using up our supplies of food so instead of Blueberry Pancakes it’s going to be oatmeal….which is ok!  We bought several canned items for “just in case” days, those weeks when we might be stuck out here due to the weather, etc….we will make dinners out of, poor Larry…I’m a casserole girl, so no telling what he will be eating, but he’s great, he will eat it and smile!

If the weather allows us we are going to finish the kitchen dresser today.   Move it back outside and will start putting on the varnish or whatever it’s called.

The doors on the island still have these old large locks
Lots of folks visiting in their own boats, then Ethan’s group arrived….so many that have never been here…I love telling the history of Seguin, informing those from Maine how special Seguin is.   Then when I tell each group about me being a baby here, they are amazed…I know…how could I be so young and yet lived here in 1960-61…..Waters have been selling well today, at 1:00 it was only 76 degrees w/ 3 mph winds….need a stronger wind to help with the heat.  As I write…heat…I’m hearing my fellow Texans making fun of me…they are dealing with 105 and 108 degree weather.  Remember my new phrase… “Summers in Maine”.

Tower Stairs....38 steps
Had a big family come up….about 30.  Great bunch of folks…introduced themselves; several were local fisherman who have fished these waters for about 30 yrs.  They loved the island, bought t-shirts.  A few admitted they had never been here, but had seen it while out and about for years.  I told them this isn’t new, that we meet folks with the same story, but was so glad they had stopped today and visited.  Two more gentleman came up shortly after them and stayed a little after.  We sat on the front porch and had a good time talking about what was out on the water today.  They told us they were going to stay in the cove tonight.  We invited them up to see the sunset, but didn’t see them again, nor did we have a sunset that was worth looking at.  The “haze” was around all day, so the sunset was nonexistent.

Was going to varnish the kitchen cabinet, but we are waiting till tomorrow morning, too late to do it today.

Old USCG Life Station on Popham Beach
Dinner…Chicken pasta salad with lots of chopped up vegetables and some of that dried tomato basil sauce my friend had bought last week….good!

Fig Newtons and a glass of milk for dessert while we watched a Tom Cruise movie…don’t remember the name…it’s where he is in the military and keeps dying and reliving the last day.
