Day 29
God is so
good! What a beautiful day to go ashore
and for the WW to be on the island. I
can’t say enough about these men! They
worked on many different items, some I’ve yet to see. The porch corner outside my kitchen had to
have some cement work….you just don’t have any idea how hard it was NOT to mark
my initials or something…but I was good.
I noticed window seals were filled in and ready for paint. The tower steps were stabilized with
cement. I know they worked on the doors
to the tower.
Ethan and
the Guppy were here by 7 am. The tide
was high (I like it that way) and we cast off towards the Guppy. We unloaded to the Guppy as we loaded the WW
into the dingy. Thank you so much Ken
for bringing the water!!
Off to
the Friends of Seguin office to meet with Catherine. Got our mail…it’s a cord we needed for our
new computer monitor. Punched holes in
our Visitors Log pages, turned in money from previous visitor and turned in
some caps (they didn’t have any in the office, they were all out at the island)
for an event this weekend…I think it is a Heritage Days event.
Breakfast…wanted
to try something new…Ethan said he goes to a little cafĂ© across from the ship
building yard on Washington St. called Southgate Restaurant. It was wonderful. Our eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns came with
homemade cinnamon raison toast….I should of ask if I could buy a loaf. Price was the best we’ve spent on
breakfast. We will be visiting them
again!
Rodgers
Ace Hardware for lightbulbs and weedeatter string.
Walmart
in Brunswick for a Pedicure!!!! Larry shopped for groceries while I got
pampered. The young lady doing the pedi,
I think this was her first time. She was
gentle and it took a while.
Ice Cream…..haven’t
had any in over 50 days and decided it was a good day for T.O.E…no not a toe
like on your foot, this is a family thing…another story another time.
Saw a
sign for 5 guys hamburgers…Shake special!
Larry and I split a burger and both had shakes.
Drove
around Brunswick, went out to Thomas Point.
It is a cute little place to camp, playgrounds, and go to the beach, etc…
People were out at low tide digging for clams.
A wonderful young man at the gate let us go in and just drive through
instead of charging us.
Wood carving of different animals playing instruments and singing "No momma, I couldn't get one in the truck" |
Stage area with a nice grassy place for everyone to set |
Love this old tractor with a basket of flowers |
We got done early and called Ethan and he was ready. While he went for the Guppy and Larry was parking the pickup, I had a lovely visit with three people on the fishing pier. Got to tell them about “my island” and I told them to visit us and I was still talking about the island as we rounded Fort Popham. I could hear them laughing!
Back on
the island, traded out places with our WW.
They told me that we had 8 visitors: 2 were on the sailboat from the
cove that we saw this morning, 2 were on a small boat leaving as we arrived and
4 were from a group Ethan had brought out earlier. They even sold a t-shirt, a magnet and a
lighthouse stamp.
Got all
our stuff back up the hill…it’s getting easier each time, especially since our
WW bring out some water for us each time.
Bandit was happy to see us, he did help the WW some today.
Shower to
get the sand off, it’s amazing how much sand can get into so many places during
the surf while trying to get out of the dingy and get it ashore.
Too tired
for dinner, plus B told me to sit down and hold him. We will be having our first overnight guest
on Sunday! Yeah!
