72 degrees w/ 2 mph winds
Day 96
Not liking these hot mornings!
Another hazy day.
Woke early so I could work next door in the
guest quarters, getting ready for overnight guest on Friday. Going to talk with the Friends and see if we
could get another set of sheets for the three twins and one full bed that is
over there. Since the sheets can’t be
washed out here…too much iron in the water, plus no washer…I’ve had to put the
flannel sheets on, and thinking that might be a little too warm at night
now. It has gotten so hot that we are getting
as much done early in the day as possible, cause after the sun comes up it’s
just too hot. We finally got a little
breeze yesterday which helped the guest cool off in the shade. Ran back to our side and took a shower around
8:30.
Came all the way from Seattle Washington to see Seguin |
The flies….they aren’t like our in Texas…these
guy’s attack you and you don’t hear them coming and you don’t feel them
land…until they bite you! Vampire flies!
They had been here many times, but their grandson had not, so they brought him....thanks! |
Breakfast was just a grab and go type of day…a
piece of toast with peanut butter.
Coffee…not today…too hot already!
The little clock in our living room has
quit…tried new batteries, but it’s dead…need to find another one. This is the main clock we go by to determine
when guest will be headed up the hill from Ethan’s boat. Haven’t really had any “early” guest. Usually 9 am we can expect those who stayed
in the cove to come up and visit. I’ve
tried to find a cheap one at Goodwill, but haven’t yet.
Getting ready for tomorrow….go ashore day. Our little wagon has seen it’s last days of
toting our supplies up and down the hill.
The Friends bought a wagon also, so we are going to borrow it for the
next few weeks.
Got a sweet surprise….Deb McKenna, our president
of F.O.S.I.L., her husband Shawn and another couple, George and Melissa, I meet
at Summer Fest a couple of weeks ago have come to visit. They brought another gentleman, Ken, who had
done geological studies along Popham Beach and the Kennebec River for more than
30 year. Besides Shawn, this is a first
to come to Seguin for the other three.
George and Ken kayaked, while Shawn and Melissa came by boat. They all were thrilled with Seguin. I love sharing it with everyone.
Love our furry visitors too! |
Ethan’s group arrived, since I was already up in
the tower, I did those tours….somehow a bird got in and I spent the rest of the
day trying to get it to fly out….so far it won’t go….maybe a blanket and catch
it…have no idea how it got in, the doors are only open at the bottom when we
have visitors and the top is only open while we are on the catwalk.
1:30…everyone’s gone, today has gone
quickly. Thinking about going swimming
in the cove…I haven’t done it yet, except on accident…swimming consist of
getting my shoulders wet. Larry’s
finishing up outside, then maybe we will take a load for tomorrow down when we
go to swim…he won’t swim, he won’t get in the water….WHAT…it’s fabulous!
Lunch….nope, too hot…I’m going to be a real wimp
when we go back to Texas.
Couple of more visitors later on in the
day. We got a text saying that Ken, the
gentleman from this morning had possibly left his camera on the boat house
deck. We headed down with some of our
supplies for tomorrow and had issues with the wagon here on the island…the
handle broke off. So here we are two
wagons and both are “hurt”. Anyway, we made it to the bottom
and found the camera….Yeah!
Another family came on the island as we were
down at the cove, but they were just going over to the cobble stone beach….they
had been here earlier in the summer.
Early sunset photo’s….
Dinner….spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic
toast…trying to use up our supplies.
