65 degrees w/ 3 mph winds….but it’s going to get up to 77
Day 52

Sleepy morning…slept in till 8….guess what we had for breakfast….Blueberry Pancakes!

Checked with our overnight guest and everything seems to be good!  Don’t know if I mentioned this last night, but Larry took them up to the top of tower to see the sunset and fireworks.  The sunset wasn’t the best we’ve seen, but it was good.  The guest seemed to enjoy the view.

Watched the fireworks along the coast as far as we could see…Boothbay Harbor seemed to be the biggest that we were able to see.

Lots of boats out on the water this morning.  Saw a couple of kayakers coming around the other end of the island…then saw them coming up the path.  Lovely couple…they come every year.  They love this place and are members of F.O.S.I.L.  They even named their cat “Seguin”.  We were able to share a little more history with them…I love that I have something to offer to those who have been coming and know Seguin, learn more!

Grandbabies and kids have gone to the cove to play in the sand.  Ethan was suppose to bring me some Dr. Pepper, having migraines and need some caffeine.  We knew he was coming out and our mistake, because we assumed it would be the regular 11 arrival time.  We were waiting, not wanting to start anything while guest were coming…they never showed….We got worried that something might have happened to Ethan and his group.  We called and they weren’t going to be arriving till 3.  So we didn’t wait anymore and began doing the daily things.

At 3 when the group arrived it was a large group of about 25….they were having a wedding up here.  When they got to the top they said they had never been here.  So I began to show then the different areas that would be good for a wedding.  I thought they were going to choose the top of the rock.  Larry has cleared a path up to the top of one of the LARGE rocks to the side and people have really been enjoying it.  They chose the rock right outside our kitchen and said their “I Do’s”.  Afterwards the group took tours of the tower and museum.  Only one of the 25 had ever been out here.  We said our congratulations and off they went down the hill.

Other guest came and went, each enjoying the island.

Our overnight guest will be with us another night, they seem to be having a great time.  They cooked out on the grill tonight.  My granddaughter Zoe came in later with a “smore”….wonder where that came from!!

We “might” be getting overnight guest tomorrow.  Unclear about it, office is trying to find out more info…but will be ready if they come.

As we watched the sun set, our grandbabies fed the seagulls and had a blast.  I realized at the end of the day I had never picked up my camera….so I’m borrowing one my daughter in law took….enjoy!

No caffeine…migraine!

Day 51

Independence Day, Declaration of Independence in 1776, it is the 185th day of the year (not in leap year) and 180 days remaining until the end of the year, the Earth is at its farthest from the sun.

It was cool and hazy this morning when we woke.  Today is a day to just be lazy, a day of sitting around and enjoying family and sharing the island.
Breakfast…Breakfast Burritos!

Ethan didn’t have any groups wanting to come out, but we did have a few personal boat loads come to see us.  Later we looked out an a gentleman was standing out on one of the large rocks out front taking photos.  I called out to him telling him I was sorry I had not known he was here.  He started apologizing that he didn’t know anyone would be here and hadn’t put his hearing aids on.  He came to the house and I gave him a tour and he did just fine hearing me.  He was very excited about being able to go to the tower.  He was also intrigued by the history of the island.  He wanted to purchase a t-shirt, but since he hadn’t thought anyone was here he hadn’t brought money.  He’s going to go online and purchase it.  He will be staying in the cove for the night.

Sadly our little seal was still out there this morning…

Grandbabies have really enjoyed the grounds, running and having a blast.  They’ve been playing with the drift wood we’ve collected.  Zoe loves climbing the rocks below…Nani is have a heart attack when she does!!

Day 50

What a wonderful day to wake, some of our children are here with us and two of our grandchildren.  Its beautiful outside, and we get to share this great adventure with our family.

Can’t wait till the others get here on Monday!!

Breakfast of champions…cheesy scrambled eggs, sausage, grill potatoes, and toast.

My one year old grandson, Kaleb, was helping me sweep the museum….a future keeper, 50 yrs from now….2065!  He can tell how when he was a baby, he came and stayed here, etc…etc…

Took a video of him climbing the stair and sent it to my mother back home in Texas….just like me at that age!

We had several boats come into our cove and they brought lots of new to the island visitors.  Got to share my story and the story of Seguin with so many.  I hope I got everyone to sign my guest book.  One lady came who you could tell she LOVED lighthouses.  She was wearing a shirt with an emblem about lighthouse association.  I should have written it down.  Her lighthouse passport was filled with over 50 stamps of the different lighthouses she’s visited.
Visitors enjoying the rocks for a picnic

Lunch…too busy to eat…too many tours to give…I even involved my kids into helping give the tours.

Another visitor today....a baby seal
With gorgeous days like this we got visitors coming in all day.  I would sometimes forget which group I told something to…and would have to ask them if I had already said something.  Everyone was gracious.
Our granddaughter Zoe enjoying the cove

Well….I murdered 10 innocent Maine Lobsters tonight…a first for me…and yes, I screamed as my son brought them in to the pot of water I had boiling!   I made a garlic infused butter to go with them, some baby potatoes and corn. All the family enjoyed them, except for Katie and I who had leftover meatloaf….I’m allergic to seafood, she just doesn’t like it!
Zoe and Kaleb inspecting dinner.....Lobsters fresh from the sea....Thanks Jackson!
Our son Kurt....killing lobster
Larry and Bob....and Larry
We knew we would be having a helicopter come to land on the island about 6:45 pm.  They had made previous arrangements to come out and take sunset engagement photos….We were excited when we saw the helicopter land and was happy for the couple for them to experience the photo shoot out here.  Apparently this was a surprise for them and they didn’t know about coming out until the last minute.  We waved goodbye and saw them off into the sunset.
