68 degrees w/ 8 mph winds
Day 98

Yes, Thank You God for the cool weather!

Fog horn has been going off all night and it when the sun came out….we are socked in.  I can see the tram, but not easily.

View from our side of the front porch
Coffee…yes!  I like mine with a little creamer and I was out for the past couple of days.  Not going out on the porch this morning..the fog has everything wet.

View from the front porch...museum side...foggy
Breakfast…leftovers…had two Blueberry Pancakes that we made from the other day…usually I have one as a snack or lunch later that day, but didn’t…heated them up and Larry wanted crunchy peanut butter and syrup on his.  Mine….whipping cream (left by our Lovely Ladies the other night), blueberry’s and pecans.

Blueberry Pancakes...yes please!
Now to the tower and dust the light!  This was one of my daddy’s jobs when he was a young 23 yr old…husband, father and USCG Boasmans Mate III class.  One of my most favorite things out here is in the tower, the door at the top leading to the catwalk.  It curves just like the tower, the old hardware….the stories it could tell…LOVE IT.  I finished the outside of it, will do the inside tomorrow…that 1000 watt bulb and the sun make it an incubator….maybe I might lose a ounce or two if I stay in there sweating!!!  Have a few moments to sweep before the guest get up the hill.

Didn’t think Ethan would be able to make it this morning, but when I text him he said he would.

Larry’s going to take his time getting down the hill and be there for Ethan’s group.  He always “tried” to be there when visitors arrived, but that knee didn’t allow this last week.

Getting ready for overnight guest for Saturday night.  Ethan will be bringing them out and he is not sure if they get to make it on Sat…weather may dictate if they get to come or not.  My Aunt and Uncle are coming out tomorrow….weather permitting!  Praying all goes well!

Foggy Seguin Light Station
Larry just told me about a family from earlier this week.  They had planned a day at the Popham Beach Park.  Officers were not letting anyone else in and there was no place to park.  Discouraged about their plans falling apart, they decided to drive on to Fort Popham.  As they were parking, Ethan asked them if they wouldn’t mind letting one of his customers park there and then they could park behind them.  He explained that this would allow both to park, since his people would be gone a few hours.  The discouraged family asked a few more questions about why they would be gone…next thing you know they are on Ethan’s boat headed to Seguin.  He was so thrilled to come out here.  They loved it.  So the day that they thought was a bust ended up being one of the best!

Had about 23 folks come with Ethan.  Several gentleman carried water containers up…bless them!!  Even though it was foggy…they still enjoyed themselves.

Visitors, two sisters, one of their husbands in the background

Precious family visiting...mom is carrying the little one
Jeff and Catherine Jacobs have been out on their boat and stopped by to see us before going home.   We had a wonderful visit.  Usually we just see each other in passing.  Jeff coming off the boat as we are getting on, he’s one of our WW and Catherine works in the F.O.S.I.L. office and we are usually running on our days off so it’s always a quick visit to drop off stuff and pick up mail and supplies for the island…so today was very nice!  Thanks for coming by.

Catherine and Jeff...Larry was trying to get out of the photo...but I caught him
Lunch…ham sandwiches, with fresh lettuce from our garden and some slices of tomato and chips, it’s amazing how a simple item like that can sometimes be the best tasting…and it was!
The fog continued through the day, so the fog horn continued also.  Its so faint, we don’t hear it half the time…hope those on the water can hear it well enough.
No more visitors came today.
