53 degrees w/5 mph winds

A little foggy, but clear at the same time…can’t see Monhegan Island, the clouds are setting on it as though it isn’t there.
Wind chime from past keepers
The waves are gentle and relaxing today.

Monhegan is in the background...too much fog to see it!
By 8:30 am there are already several boats out on the waters, I can count 6 so far.

There talking chances of showers tonight, so we’ve got lots of outside things we want to get done:
*Museum sign completed, still needs to be hung.
*Path signs stakes cut into a point and put into the ground.
*I’m was going to finish my brick landing of our porch, but I need more sand!

My niece, Britney, graduated from Boyd High School, Boyd, Texas last night. This was the same High School that my father, her grandfather graduated from in 1956….59 years apart!  Congratulations Girl!!  My sister shared a video so I was able to watch…thanks Kevin and Penny!

Historical Fact
My first "night" photo of the entire lighthouse
1st Order Fresnel Lens….apparently this speaks of it being a “first”, there are 2nd and 3rd.  There is no way it could be replaced.  It is said that the “recipe" for this priceless lens is irreplaceable, plus the cost would be millions to replace it.  This lens has 282 individual glass prisms.  It was designed to bend and magnify light into a single concentrated beam. It uses only one…1000-watt bulb today. Our light can be seen for twenty miles.  The light is ALWAYS on!

 My History
Pond Island….we were there till mid Sept 1960…Dad knew they were fixin to (ok, here is a Texas word for all my new Maine friends) move to Seguin.  He had taken a washing machine motor and put it on a small boat.  Loaded momma and I and a few of our personal items: sheets, my baby bed, dad’s ship (more about the ship later) ,etc… and we came to Seguin for the first time.  We went back to Pond and on Sept. 13, 1960 the USCG said it was time to move....in the middle of Hurricane Donna…really?!  Momma grabbed our wet laundry and threw it in a basket, took the pot of food off the stove, and grabbed me and off we went down to the shore to go to Seguin.  We were the “last” family to live on Pond!  More about our arrival on Seguin tomorrow.

Headed to the Whistle House/Fog Horn building/Man Cave
to build my spice rack/shelf/populations sign

Population sign...now where to put it?

Lunch came and went.  Guess we were working hard and just weren't hungry.
My soon to be spice rack
Looking from inside the Whistle house out
Bandit is chillin in the sun
Dinner….OMG….Steaks cooked on the charcoal grill, baked potatoes with fresh chives from the garden.  The chives are from the past keepers….thanks!  So while Larry was outside grilling I began to make a veg dish that was so good.  Broccoli, green beans, celery, onions, cherry tomatoes, garlic….all fresh with a touch of Chef Ray’s “Triple S”….spicy & sweet sauce!  Chocolate pudding for dessert.  We ate well!

Old stuff...my clothes line wheel outside the kitchen door

Beautiful sunset, sea gulls weren’t flying around like they have been.  Haven’t seen the geese in a couple of days, but there are some baby ducks.
These locks are on all the outside door
They aren't the ones we use, just part of the hardware left on doors
Lovin me some old stuff...railroad spike for the tram

Roof shingles fixed....ck!

Stone steps going up into the tower leveled...ck!
